CARE (Creating Conditions for Change) - WA Only
Creating conditions for positive change
Description
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has" - Margaret Mead
CARE is an evidence-based, trauma-informed model developed by the Residential Child Care Project at Cornell University.
This four (4) day program presents a framework for practice and guides our interactions with children and their families. CARE influences the way we think about children. It focuses on our relationships to help children build new competencies and helps us make decisions and take actions based on the best interests of children.
Learning Objectives
On completion of this training, participants will be able to:
Describe the Children and Residential Experiences: Creating Conditions for Change (CARE) practice model and the six principles that form the foundation for creating conditions for change.
Implement ways of working with children and young people (best practice), based on the core Principles of being: Developmentally Focused, Family Involved, Relationship Based, Competence Centred, Trauma Informed, and Ecologically Oriented.
Implement a shared language and understanding so we can be consistent in our practice and work towards a common goal.
